South Point Primary Eco Committee

Why do we have an Eco Committee?

At South Point Primary, we value the importance of the local environment and the world we live in. We are the first Net-Zero Carbon School in Wales and pride ourselves on the sustainability of our school. Eco Committee representatives will develop skills such as confidence, communication and responsibility. It is an ideal opportunity for pupils to be actively involved in the way that the school is run and how they want it to look.

Who are the Eco Committee?

All of our members have been elected by their peers at the beginning of the year to represent the whole school. Our Eco Committee is made up of six representatives from Year 2 to Year 6.

What do the Eco Committee Do?

Members of the Eco Committee participate in weekly discussions and take on the role of reporting back to their classes of relevant information of what was discussed. Members encourage their peers to add to the 'Senedd Suggestion Box' of what they want to see in their school and discuss these at meetings.

This year we have created a 'School Senedd' where the Eco Committee works alongside other Committees within the school, such as School Council.
