School Council

Welcome to South Point Primary School Council page.

Why do we have a school council?

At South Point Primary, we value the opinions and ideas of our pupils and the School Council provides a platform for the pupils to share these opinions within the school community. School Council Representatives will develop skills such as confidence, communication and responsibility in sharing their own views and the views of their fellow pupils. It is an ideal opportunity for pupils to be actively involved in the way that the school is run by leading their very own School Council.

Who are the School Councillors?

All of our members have been elected by their peers at the beginning of the year to represent the whole school. Our School Council is made up of eight representatives from Y2 to Y6.

What do the School Council Do?

Members of the School Council participate in weekly discussions and votes and take on the role of reporting back to their classes of relevant information of what was discussed. Members encourage their peers to add to the 'Senedd Suggestion Box' of what they want to see in their school and discuss these at meetings. This year we have created a 'School Senedd' where School Council works alongside other Committees within the school, such as Eco Committee. The School Council are there to encourage our children to have a “voice” and to share their opinions to help us in being “The best we can be.”
